Browser upgrades

Boardworks have strived to make this website compatible with all browsers. However, if you do have an older browser you may see some inconsistencies. The following browsers are available to download for free:

Change browser settings

Most browsers allow you to change the following settings:

  • Font size, style and colour
  • Background colour
  • Prevent images from downloading

This section of the page details how you can change the settings in various browsers.

Firefox (version 2 and below):

Overriding style sheets

  • From main menu, select ‘View’, select ‘Page Style’ then select 'No Style' .

Font and colour settings:

  • From main menu, select ‘Tools’, select ‘Options’ then select the content tab.
  • Here you can alter settings applied to fonts and page colours.

Prevent images from downloading:

  • From main menu, select ‘Tools’, select ‘Options’, select ‘Content’.
  • Uncheck the ‘Load images automatically’ check box.

Internet Explorer (version 7 and below):

Font settings:

  • From menu select 'Tools', select 'Internet Options', click on the 'Accessibility' option under the 'General' tab.
  • Tick the options that are appropriate to you from: Ignore colours, Ignore font styles and Ignore font sizes, then click 'Ok'.
  • Click 'Ok' again to close the 'Internet Options' box.

Background and font colours:

  • From menu select 'Tools', select 'Internet Options', click on the 'Colours' option under the 'General' tab.
  • Uncheck the 'use windows colour' option. Select your own text and background colours, then click 'Ok'.
  • Click 'Ok' again to close the 'Internet Options' box.

Prevent images from downloading:

  • From menu select 'Tools', select 'Internet Options', click on the 'Advanced' tab, scroll down the settings until you reach 'Multimedia'.
  • Uncheck the ‘Show pictures’ check box.
  • Click 'Ok' to close the 'Internet Options' box.

Netscape

Font and color:

  • From 'Main menu', select 'Tools', select 'Options' then select the Content tab.
  • Here you will find options that will allow to change the style and colours of fonts, and backgrounds.

Changing font size:

  • From 'Main menu' go to 'View' and select 'Text Size'.
  • Select the appropriate size option.

Prevent images from downloading:

  • From 'Main menu', select 'Tools', select 'Options' then select 'Content''.
  • Uncheck Load images automatically, click 'OK'.

Opera

How to override style sheets:

  • From 'Main menu', select 'View', select 'style', then select 'User mode'.

Fonts and colours:

  • From 'Main menu', select 'Tools', select 'Preferences' then select the 'Web pages' tab.
  • Here you will find settings that will allow you to set font and background colours.
  • Click 'Ok' to close the Preferences box.

Font size:

  • From 'Main menu', select 'View', select 'Zoom'.
  • Select the magnification that is most suitable to you.

Prevent images from downloading:

  • From 'Main menu', select 'Tools', select 'Preferences' then select the 'Web pages' tab.
  • You will see a dropdown menu. Click the arrow to expand the menu, select 'Show no images'.
